Claire Price Natural Health - Frequently Asked Questions
How long will the treatment take?
Usually an hour for Bowen Therapy or Myofascial Release Therapy or Access Bars. Body Talk sessions usually last for about an hour, sometimes a bit longer.
What do I wear?
Treatments with Bowen Therapy and Myofascial Release Therapy are more effective when applied directly on the skin but Bowen Therapy can also be applied through very light and loose clothing. You remain fully clothed during Body Talk and Access Bars sessions.
How many treatments will I need?
This varies according to the condition. With Bowen Therapy and Myofascial Release Therapy, often three treatments, spaced about a week apart, can bring about change in many conditions. Long term chronic issue may require more treatments. You can also have maintenance treatments, as desired. With Body Talk, the number of sessions may vary between individuals. You will have a sense of whether a modality is working for you, often after a few sessions.
Can I use other therapies at the same time?
It is recommended not to use other physical therapies (e.g. massage, chiropractic, osteopathy) for about 7 days after a Bowen Therapy treatment, as it can interfere with the effects of a treatment. Body Talk and Access Bars can be used alongside any other therapy. Often it is helpful though, to use one therapy at a time, so that you can more effectively evaluate what works well for your body.
Are there contraindications for using these therapies?
There are very few contraindications, as they are all non-invasive therapies. You can contact me directly to discuss any concerns, or discuss them with your doctor, as there are some medical conditions where the therapies are not appropriate.
Are the therapies covered by ACC?
At the moment, the therapies are not covered by ACC in New Zealand. Some health insurance plans cover Bowen therapy but most do not currently. As such, you will need to pay for your treatment privately. You can consult our Price List for costs. We have Eftpos available for payment in the clinic.
